THE LEAD — The Lynx headed up to Presque Isle in the hope of snapping their losing skid against UMaine. The Owls were also going into the game looking for their first win of 2026. Both teams played hard against their NAC rival, but UMaine's defense was too much for the Lynx. Eventually overpowering them 50-34.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Owls were the first to strike - Aleyah Matheson hit a three to start the game, then a layup, and then another three.

  • The Lynx had their own star in the first; Alawnah Dunda scored three of her own baskets, accounting for all but one of the team's points in the quarter.

  • More players from both teams started to contribute in the second. The teams went shot-for-shot.

  • Because of their threes, slowly, the Owls started to pull away. At halftime, they led 25-14.

  • Coming out of the half, both teams were going back and forth.

  • Savannah Gravitt made her return for the Lynx during the game and made her first basket in the third, followed almost immediately by a three to put the Lynx within 10.

  • The third saw the Lynx's best offensive production, but it was also the Owl's. Two more threes late in the third kept the Owls one step ahead of the Lynx.

  • UMaine's offense started to slow in the fourth. Lesley tried to take advantage of the opportunity, but time was not on their side. The Lynx ultimately fell 50-34
