Track & Field Put On A Show At NAC Championships

The Lead - The Lynx headed to Orono, Maine, for the North Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by UMaine Farmington. The Men's team finished in 5th while the Women's took 6th. However, the Lynx set lots of new personal records and a program record. The two teams combined for 5 scoring performances and 12 in the top 25.

Top Men's Performers:

  • Prince Calhoun set a new personal best in the 5000-meter when he ran a 16:17.06, earning him second place in the championship and getting the Lynx eight points. The race also set a new program record.

  • Jonathan Le Maitre also found himself on the podium when he placed third in the 800-meter race. In his 6th consecutive meet, he set a new personal best in the race, recording a 2:03.72 in the championship. His performance earned the team six points and is the second fastest in Lesley history.

  • Not far behind Le Maitre was Tyshawn Brownfield, who ran a 2:08.97 in the 800 meaning him in 6th place, earning a point. He did even better in the 400, running a time of 53.21, a new personal best, and getting him 5th at the meet, two points. His 400 times ranked second all-time in program history.

  • Over on the field, Moses Semuhoza set a new freshman record when he threw 9.6 meters. The throw earned him 11th place, his highest finish in any event. He is now second all-time in the event at Lesley

  • Sammy Nzeyimana placed in the top 10 all-time at Lesley when he set a new personal record of 25.6 in the 200-meter dash. The time placed him 13th in the event.

 

Top Women's Performers:

  • Rebecca Hall was the runner-up in the 5000 meters, earning the Lynx 8 points. The program record holder ran a 21:09.27 didn't break her PR but set a new highest finish in the race.

  • In the Shot Put, Ella Behling threw for a new personal record of 4.41 meters. The throw placed her 24th at the championships.

The Lynx head to Springfield College for the New England D-III Championships on Saturday.
