THE LEAD – UMass Boston posted a dominant 7-0 win over visiting Lesley University in NCAA Division III non-conference women's tennis action at the BC High School Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Missing multiple players in the lineup, the Lynx struggled from the get-go and were unable to muster up a fight in doubles outside of a 6-4 setback in the top pairing from senior Jessica Legendre (Leesburg, La.) and junior Lucy Boyce (Marshfield, Mass.).
  • Playing in the top singles slot, Legendre was able to win a game before retiring after a 4-1 score due to illness.
  • The rest of the Beacons lineup picked up straight set 6-0, 6-0 wins in No. 2 through No. 6 singles to sweep the match, 7-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The losses in singles and doubles play for Legendre were her first losses in either category this season.
  • The result moves the all-time series to a 3-3 mark over six meetings with UMB winning the last three.
