THE LEAD – In a rematch of the 2024 North Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Championship, Husson University nipped the defending NAC Champs, Lesley University, by a 4-3 final in the conference opener for both programs on Saturday afternoon on the Bangor High School Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Eagles earned the doubles point by picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. LU senior Jessica Legendre (Leesville, La.) and junior Lucy Boyce (Marshfield, Mass.) posted a 6-2 win in the top doubles pairing.
  • LU junior Mary Osucha (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Legendre continued their stellar play at the top of the Lynx singles lineup as Osucha earned a 6-2, 6-2 win out of the top spot while Legendre coasted in second singles, 6-0, 6-0
  • First year Hayley Jones (Berthoud, Colo.) earned her first collegiate win in singles action registering a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the No. 5 position to keep Lesley in the hunt.
  • The Eagles ultimately split single action with wins out of the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 slots to sneak past the Lynx with a 4-3 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Eagles move to 7-4 all-time vs. Lesley, snapping a four-match skid to earn their first win over the Lync since the 2022 season.
  • Legendre moves to 8-0 on the year in her combined singles and doubles play.
  • The result marks the fourth consecutive 4-3 setback for Lesley to start the 2025 campaign.
