THE LEAD – Clark University rallied to pick up a 4-3 victory over Lesley University in NCAA Division III non-conference women's tennis action Thursday afternoon at the Corash Tennis Courts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lynx picked up the doubles point as senior Jessica Legendre (Leesville, La.) and junior Lucy Boyce (Marshfield, Mass.) battled for a 7-5 win in the No. 1 pairing while junior Mary Osucha (Knoxville, Tenn.) and sophomore Anna Stamp (Belchertown, Mass.) followed suit with a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
- Osucha and Legendre made quick work of their No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches with matching 6-0, 6-1 scores to account for the three LU points on the match but the Cougars were able to notch wins in their No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles play to steal the match by a 4-3 final.
- Lesley first year Hayley Jones (Berthoud, Colo.) put up strong effort in No. 5 singles, ultimately falling 6-3, 6-2 to Chau Quach in the deciding match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The 4-3 final marks the second consecutive season the match ended decided by one point, with Lesley taking the 2024 decision.
