Cruz Named NAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Leecy Cruz (San Antonio, Texas) has been named the North Athletic Conference (NAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week, it was announced by the NAC Office on Monday, October 20. This marks the first time in her career she's earned Player of the Week honors and the first time a Lynx representative has earned the recognition this season.

Cruz helped the Lynx post a 3-0 record on the week including two conference wins over MMA and Thomas, collecting a total of nine points on four goals and one assist. The forward opened the stanza by setting up the game-winning tally in a 1-0 non-conference win vs. Framingham State before exploding for a four-goal, eight-point outing on Saturday against the Terriers in NAC action, collecting the game-winner midway through the first half.

On the year, the Texas native has racked up 20 points on eight goals and four assists to rank fifth in the NAC in goals and ninth overall in points while leading the squad in goals and points.

And over her Lesley career, Cruz has registered 30 points on 10 goals and 10 assists while accumulating three game-winning goals, all coming this season.

The Lynx return to the field on Saturday, Oct. 25 for a road contest at VTSU Lyndon scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM for their regular-season finale.
