THE LEAD - The Lynx headed up to Presque Isle for their final two games of the season. Lesley, already eliminated from playoff contention, faced off against the Owls, who were looking to get as high a seed as they could. The Lynx did everything in their power to stop them. In game one, they had a decent lead in the final stretch, but the Owls were able to come back and get the win. Then in game two, UMaine got out to a lead of their own that the Lynx weren't able to catch up to.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1)

Isabella Moscoso got the game going with a full count lead-off walk. A groundout from Shae Thomas moved her up, and a sac fly from Leah St. John put the Lynx on the board.

They kept it going in the third when Eleni Vrahatis made it to second thanks to an error. Then Moscoso singled to score another run.

Thomas then hit into a fielder's choice, but thanks to an error, both runners were safe at second and third. Then another sac fly from St. John scored a run yet again.

The Owls managed to score two in the bottom half to tighten the score.

Madison Herbert led off the 4th, reaching on an error, and Lauren Martin followed with a double. A wild pitch scored the first run, and a groundout from Madalynn Biagi scored another.

UMaine scored four in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead. The next inning, they scored three more and eventually won 9-5.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Game 1)

Due to two sacrifice flies and a walk, St. John didn't record an at-bat this game but did drive in two runs nonetheless.

On the mound, Herbert pitched a complete game, giving up six earned runs off nine hits and walking five. She did record a strikeout. She also scored a run for the Lynx.

For the Owls, Abby Doughty was all over the place. She stole three bases after only stealing one all season prior. At the plate, she went 1 for 3 with an RBI and recorded two runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2)

The Owls got out to a hot start in game two, scoring three in the 1st, two in the 2nd, and one in the 3rd. While no hitting the Lynx until the 4th when Leila Chisholm broke up the bid.

Then, in the bottom of the 5th, with two outs, Moscoso singled on the first pitch she saw. Thomas then reached on an error, and a single from St. John scored the sole run for the Lynx.

UMaine would tack on three more before the game was called at 9-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Game 2)

St. John went 1 for 3 in game two, but her one hit scored the run for the team.

In her final collegiate game, Herbert threw her 12th complete game of the season. She pitched 4.1 innings, allowing eight earned runs off 14 hits while walking four and striking out two.

In the other dugout, Zoe Stewart had a great game. She went 3 for 4, all doubles. She drove in a run and crossed home three times.

The Lynx finished their season today but will return next spring.

The Owls secured the 6th seed in the NAC tournament and will play on May 7th in Bangor, ME
