THE LEAD - The Lynx looked to wrap up their road trip with a couple of wins in their doubleheader against SUNY Cobleskill. In game one, they retook the lead in the 6th, but a 7th inning rally allowed the Fighting Tigers to walk it off. Then, in game two, after throwing a complete game in the first game, Madison Herbert was back on the mound. She kept Cobleskill scoreless through six, but the Lynx ultimately fell 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1)

  • The Lynx got right to work. Leah St. John started the game with a single. Herbert drew a walk, and Leila Chisholm walked too to load the base. Lauren Martin grounded out but scored a run.

  • Cobleskill responded with a leadoff single, and the next batter brought her home.

  • They put up another two in the 2nd to take the lead.

  • Neither team did much until the 6th when Chisholm started the inning with a bunt. Martin then singled, and a double from Jess O'Neill scored the first run of the inning.

  • Then a catcher's interference gave Savannah Gravitt first, and the Lynx had the bases loaded again. A groundout from Marissa De La Rosa scored another and tied it up.

  • St. John then singled to score Gravitt and O'Neill to give the Lynx the lead.

  • Then, in the bottom of the 7th, the Fighting Tigers managed to score three runs and walk it off.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Game 1)

  • St. John had the biggest game at the plate. She went 3 for 4 with a double. She scored a run and drove one in.

  • Herbert threw her 5th complete game of the season. In her 6.2 innings, she gave up five earned runs on seven hits. He walked three and struck out four.

  • For the Fighting Tigers, Aliyah Neeser went 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2)

  • Tired from the last game, both teams' bats were cold for the majority of game two.

  • Herbert, who just threw a complete game in the first of the doubleheader, was back on the mound, pitching an even better game.

  • Neither team managed to get more than a single hit until the 6th.

  • The Fighting Tigers managed to get on the board, scoring three runs. However, Herbert recovered and got the next two outs on three pitches to stop the bleeding.

  • The Lynx weren't able to score in the 7th, and they fell 3-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Game 2)

  • St. John was once again the best offensive player for the Lynx. She went 2 for 3. On defense, she was responsible for a double play.

  • Herbert threw her 6th complete game immediately after her 5th. She gave up fewer runs (3 earned) on fewer hits (6) while walking fewer (1). She did not strike anyone out, however.

  • On the mound for Cobleskill, Gabriella Wendelken threw a complete 7.0 inning shutout. She gave up five hits and no runs. She didn't give up a walk and struck out six.
