THE LEAD - The Lynx headed on a road trip to New York, looking to put an end to their recent skid. However, the Broncos came ready to play, and they got off to 12-0 leads in both games. The Lynx ultimately fell 17-1 in the first and, in a shortened second game, lost 14-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1)

  • The Broncos were first on the board, scoring a run in the 1st.

  • Their bats started to get hot, and they put up six runs in both the 2nd and 3rd.

  • Madison Herbert started the 4th by taking one for the team on the first pitch. She then found herself on second thanks to a wild pitch. Lauren Martin grounded out, but it advanced the runner. Then Leila Chisholm singled and scored a run.

  • Delhi responded with another three runs in the bottom half.

  • The Lynx fell 17-1

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Game 1)

  • Leila Chisholm accounted for both of the Lynx's hits in the game. She went 2 for 2 and also recorded the team's only RBI.

  • Every starter for the Broncos recorded a hit and represented a run.

  • Angelina Dickel was unstoppable for the Broncos. She got the win in her 4.0 inning outing. She let up a run on two hits while walking one and striking out four. She also homered at the plate. Scoring two runs and recording two RBI's.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2)

  • The Broncos started the second game by scoring four in the 1st.

  • The Lynx tried to respond to their next turn up. They loaded the bases but weren't able to do anything with it.

  • In the bottom half, the Broncos were red hot, putting up 10 runs.

  • That didn't deter the Lynx. Herbert reached on an error and made it to second on the throw. Chisholm batted into an out but advanced the runner.

  • Eleni Vrahatis then reached thanks to an error, and Herbert scored. Martin then reached via error, too. The error allowed Vrahatis to score.

  • The Lynx kept the momentum going, allowing 0 runs in an inning for the first time all day.

  • The game was called following that inning. The final score was Delhi 14, Lynx 2

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Game 2)

  • Vrahatis went 1 for 2, and the error she batted into scored one of the team's runs, and she crossed home for the other.

  • After pitching four innings in game one, Herbert was back on the mound. She gave up 11 earned runs on 13 hits but didn't allow a walk and recorded a strikeout.

  • For the Broncos, Samantha Martin had a great game. She went 3 for 3 with a double and a triple. She batted in five runs and scored three herself.
