CAMBRIDGE, MA – The Lady Lynx needed to sweep Husson
College to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Lynx certainly made
a statement in the first game by winning it 9-1.
Christina Anzilotti (Pelham, NY) pitched an absolute gem against
Husson College. Anzilotti pitched five innings, giving up zero
earned runs on two hits, while striking out two and walking just
one.
Once again the Lynx were led offensively by their young guns.
Freshman Katie Bennett (Bartlett, NH) went 3-3 with five
RBI’s. Freshman Sarah Wilson (Lowell, MA) went 2-3 with two
runs scored, and an RBI. Freshman Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, MA)
went 1-2 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
Lesley jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after one inning. Husson was
able to get a run in the second but Anzilotti shut them down after
that. Lesley got one in the third, four in the forth and one in the
fifth to end the game 9-1. Lesley goes for the seep over Husson in
the second game of the double header.
The Lady Lynx kept there playoff hopes very much alive as they
completed the sweep over Husson College and moved into fourth place
in the NAC Eastern Division. Lesley now needs to either win one of
two against Lasell College or have Husson College lose one of two
against Maine Maritime in order for the Lynx to qualify for the
playoffs.
Christina Anzilotti (Pelham, NY) who pitched beautifully in the
first game against Husson was tagged early for three runs against
The Eagles and was taken out of the game after two-thirds of an
inning. Maureen Mikos (Fairfield, CT) came in for the Lynx and
guided the team to a 7-5 victory.
Mikos pitched six and a third innings, giving up two runs on eight
hits, while striking out seven and walking just one.
Mikos was helped out by the top four hitters in the Lynx order.
Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, MA), Courtnie Leakeas (Lowell, MA),
Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, NY), and Sarah Wilson (Lowell, MA)
went a combined 9-11, with five RBI’s, and six runs
scored.
After Husson jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first
Lesley responded in the bottom of the inning with two runs. Mikos
was able to hold Husson off until the fifth inning as Lesley got
three more in the bottom of the third. After Husson got one in the
top of the fifth, the Lynx got two more in the bottom of the fifth
to take a 7-4 lead. Husson got one more run in the top of the
seventh but it was not enough as Lesley won the game 7-5. For more
