Philip White
Position: Assistant Coach

Philip White was named the Assistant Coach of the Lesley University Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field programs in April 2026.

White enters the role coming from West Virginia University (Morgantown, West Virginia), where he served as both an Assistant Cross Country Coach and an Assistant Track and Field Coach. He helped guide the Mountaineers Cross Country team to a second-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Championships after winning the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships and being runners-up at the Big 12 Championships. He also helped the Track and Field teams to a 4th-place finish in the Big 12 Indoor Championships and a 13th-place finish in the Big 12 Outdoor Championships.

A graduate of West Liberty University (West Liberty, WV), White was a decorated runner competing on the Hilltoppers Men's Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field, and Outdoor Track & Field squads. He earned  All Mountain East Conference (MEC) All-Conference honors twice in his career. He was also named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Runner of the Week. In 2018, he was named MEC Cross Country Freshman of the Year.  He was the first in West Liberty program history to earn All-Region honors with a Top 25 (15th place) finish at the 2018 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional meet. He holds school indoor records at 3000 and 5000 meters with 8:33.01 & 14:54.38, respectively. Since graduating, he has begun competing in Marathons, winning the 2025 Toronto Race.

White graduated from WLU with a Master’s in Arts & Education and a Bachelor's in Exercise Physiology. In 2021, he was named to the MEC Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

Outside of Lesley, White coaches amateur runners for races ranging from marathons to 5ks and is a coach at Equinox.
