NAC WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACN AND FIELD RELEASE
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In his first season competing in track and field, Lesley jumper Hezekiah Brown (Stafford, Va.) earned North Atlantic Conference (NAC) All-Conference First Team honors for long jump, and All-Conference Second Team for Triple jump. Along with Brown, fellow teammate Osmin Castaneda (East Boston, Mass.) earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team. On the women's side, Rebecca Hall (Richmond, Vt.) was recognized to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
For Brown, he is the first Lynx to recieve All-Conference honors since 2019 when Mike Fleming was named to the NECC All-Conference First Team. However, Brown is the first in program history to earn NAC All-Conference recognition. The sophomore earned First Team honors in long jump thanks to his program and personal record leap of 6.54m at the NAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship (April 26). Each time he competed in long jump this year, he had a jump over at least 6.50m. Thanks to his strong efforts in long jump, Brown was also able to compete in the New England DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships where he came in 15th (6.57m) out of a field of 24. He was the first Lynx to compete in the race since 2014.
Meanwhile, in triple jump, Brown secured his spot on the Second Team courtesy of a second place jump (12.38m) at the NAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Despite only competing in the event once, Brown shattered the previous program record of 10.37m.
Despite only being a first year student-athlete, Castaneda made a strong impact right away for Lesley. At the Ed Daniels Invitational (April 14), Castaneda broke the Lesley freshman program record in shotput with a toss of 8.71m which also marked the third best in program history as well. Each of his shotput throws this year were over at least 6.90m. In discus, Castaneda set another first year and personal record with a throw of 19.98m which was good for 13th place at the Jonathan Tymann Invitational (April 5). For Castaneda, this will be his first postseason honor from the NAC.
Hall was the lone representative for the Lynx on the women's side and had a strong first year campaign for Lesley. She led the Lynx at the Sean Collier Invitational with a personal record in the 800m at 2:55.58 (32nd place). In the 1500m, she ran a career best at the Jonathan Tymann Invitational crossing the finish line at 5:52.09. In the 5000m, Hall set a first year and personal record at the NAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship when crossed the finsih line at 21:53.89. For Hall, this marks her first postseason honor from the NAC.
