THE LEAD – The Lynx faced off against the top team in the Empire 8, Thomas College, in their last home match of the season. Despite their best efforts, Lesley was bested 7-0 in both matches on the day.


HOW IT HAPPENED

Doubles (Match 1):

Singles (Match 1):

  • Leading off singles action for Lesley, Nicol 6-0, 6-3.

  • The second spot saw Ouellette take part but ended up with a 6-0, 6-1 loss.

  • In singles three, Treanor was downed 6-0, 6-0.

  • Wasserman fell 6-0, 6-1 in the number four spot.

  • Ontiveros found himself at the fifth spot in singles but was defeated 6-0, 6-1.

  • Finally, in the last singles spot of the first match, Locke lost 6-0, 6-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Doubles (Match 2):

  • Leading off doubles in match two, the pairing of Nicol and Ouellette fell 6-2 in the opening matchup.

  • In the second spot of doubles, Treanor and Wasserman were defeated 6-0. 

  • The last pairing of doubles saw Ontiveros and Locke lose in a 6-1 match.

Singles (Match 2):

  • Leading off singles action for Lesley, Ouellette was bested 6-1, 6-0.

  • The second spot saw Nicol lose 6-0, 6-1.

  • In singles three, Wasserman was defeated 7-5, 6-0

  • Treanor could not get the win as he fell 6-2, 6-2.

  • Ontiveros fought hard but was ultimately defeated 6-0, 6-0.

  • Finally, in the last singles spot of the first match, Locke took the 6-1, 6-0 defeat.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Thomas College dominated all day; the closest the Lynx got to winning a set was Wasserman's 7-5. Otherwise, they never managed more than 3

  • With these wins, the Terriers secured the #1 spot in the East for the Empire 8 Postseason Tournament.
