THE LEAD – The Lesley University men's tennis team ended the season on a high-note as the Lynx topped Curry College by a score of 4-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles:
- In the first doubles spot, Thomas Nicol (Acton, Mass.) and Jeremy Ouellette (Old Saybrook, Conn.) took down Curry's No.1 doubles by a score of 6-1.
- The second pairing in doubles Miles Brajdic (Atlanta, Ga.) and DJ Cronin (New York, N.Y.) fell, 6-1.
- Finally, at the three spot in doubles James Ontiveros (Walham, Mass.) and Bennett Locke (Braintree, Mass.) automatically won the third doubles set via forefit.
Singles:
- Leading off singles action for Lesley, Nicol fell in a tough 7-5, 6-2 matchup.
- The second spot saw Cronin take part but ended up with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat.
- In singles three, Ouellette gave the Lynx its first win by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
- Ontiveros unfortunately fell in the fourth spot by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
- Thanks to clutch play from Hunter Treanor (Bulverde, Texas) in the fifth spot, he got the win 6-4, 7-5. Lesley was then able to earn a victory in the final singles spot via another forefit which allowed the squad to earn the 4-3 match win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Ouellette and Treanor both earned their first singles wins of the season on Friday afternoon.
- Lesley's three wins are the highest since the 2018 season (3-7).
- Friday's win marked the first against Curry in program history.
- Lesley's three-match win streak is the longest since 2013 when the squad won three in a row. It also is the first time the Lynx have ended the season on a win streak since the 2010 season when Lesley finished the year on a three-match win streak.
