THE LEAD - The Lynx headed back to Maine to take on the Thomas Terriers. In the final stretch of the season, Lesley needs to win out to make the NAC championship. They get out to a lead early in game one and are able to take it all the way until the bottom of the 7th when a slew of mistakes allow the Terriers to walk it off. Then in game two, the Lynx's bats can't get going, and Thomas walks away with their second win of the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1)

  • The Lynx were hot early. In the 1st, Andres Moreno tried to score but was thrown out at home. They kept it going in the 2nd. Payne Johnson slapped a double, and a single from Nathan Young drove him home.

  • For the rest of the game, it was a pitcher's duel with only a handful of baserunners for both teams until the 7th.

  • The Lynx were able to load the bases in the top half but weren't able to bring anyone home.

  • In the bottom, the Terriers loaded the bases thanks to two errors and a walk. A walk tied it up, and a sac fly walked it off 2-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Game 1)

  • Moreno was the only Lynx to manage more than one hit. He went 2 for 3 with a double but also committed both of the team's errors.

  • Nemergut pitched a complete 6.2 innings game. He was throwing a shutout for the first six, but gave up two unearned runs in the 7th. He allowed four hits, three walks, and struck out four.

  • On the mound for Thomas, Ian Libby threw 7.0 innings for his 5th win of the season. He allowed one unearned run on five hits. He didn't walk a batter and struck out six.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2)

  • The Terriers were first on the board in game 2. In the second, they managed three runs.

  • They tacked on another one in the 4th.

  • In the 5th, the Lynx had their best opportunity of the game. Logan Shudy on second and Moreno on first with no outs. But a fielder's choice, a pop-up, and a foul-out ended it quickly.

  • and three more in the 6th to make it 7-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Game 2)

  • The Lynx bats were cold in game two, but Grant Bazinet was still able to bat .500, going 1 for 2.

  • The pitching staff also struggled. James Labombard was able to come in, stop the bleeding, and close out the game. He only needed to record two outs, and he did on back to back strike outs. 7 of his 8 pitches were strikes.

  • Brody Walsh threw an outstanding game for the Terriers. His complete 7.0 inning outing earned him his second win of the season. He didn't allow a runa nd only let up six hits and one walk. He was able to strike out eight.

UP NEXT

  • The Lynx will host the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers for a four-game series to wrap up the season. First pitch is at 2 on Tuesday.

  • The Terriers will wrap up their regular season with a doubleheader against UMaine Fort Kent on Saturday, starting at Noon.
