Nemergut & Finnegan Receive NAC Weekly Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Graduate student Jacob Nemergut and First Year Owen Finnegan have been named to the North Athletic Conference (NAC) Baseball Weekly Awards, it was announced by the NAC Office on Monday, March 23. This marks both athletes' first recognitions in their careers and the first for the team this season.

Nemergut was named the Pitcher of the week after making two starts and gaining two wins. His first outing was a complete 6 innings against UMaine Presque Isle, where he allowed one hit. He struck out eight that game, a NAC season high. He then pitched 3 innings three days later, where he again gave up a single hit while striking out three and walking one.

Throughout the season so far, Nemergut leads Division III in Hits Allowed per Nine Innings with 2.45. He is also ranked 21st in the country in ERA with .82. In the NAC, he ranks first in wins (2), hits allowed (3), runs allowed (1), and Batters struck out looking (6)

Finnegan was named Co-Rookie of the Week in his first week of eligibility. The First year played in five of the Lynx's games this week, where he went 10 for 18. He hit three doubles, a triple, and a home run plus two walks. He drove in eight runs and accounted for six.

In the game against Rutgers-Newark on March 19th, he went four for five and got eight total bases, both of which are game highs in the NAC. He also ranked first in batting average (.500), slugging percentage (.900), on-base plus slugging percentage (1.456), and sits second in the NAC for on-base percentage with .556.

Gerlys Martinez was also named to the NAC Honor Roll. The First year played in all seven games and went for 10 for 22 with four doubles and a home run. He raked in 12 runs and accounted for nine himself. He stole a base, walked six times, and only struck out once.

The Lynx play their home opener on Wednesday, March 25th at 6 PM at Minuteman High School in Lexington, Mass. against Rivier University.
