THE LEAD — After getting blown out in their last game in Florida, the Lynx looked to rebound against a skidding Curry College. Both teams went back and forth all afternoon. A rally in the bottom of the ninth sent the game to extras, but Lesley was able to get the job done and walk away with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Neither team got much going in the first couple of innings.

  • Jacob Brown started the 3rd with a full count walk, then Andres Moreno doubled, and a single from Logan Shudy drove in the first two runs of the game.

  • Caden Shott took one for the team next, and a single by the third baseman scored Shudy.

  • Gerlys Martinez was up next and smacked a double and drove in another run. A walk from Owen Finnegan loaded up the bases.

  • Anthony Nyhuis grounded into a double play but scored one more run for the Lynx in the third.

  • In response, the Colonels got their bats going. Three straight singles loaded up the bases, and a double down the left field line made the score 5-2.

  • Moreno got a leadoff single in the 4th, and a bunt moved him to second. A double from Shott brought him home.

  • In the bottom of the inning, the Colonels started with a solo homer. The next man up got a single, he then stole second, and a pop-up got him to third. An error on the Lynx drove in another run.

  • Neither team did much in the 5th or 6th. The Lynx had a couple of baserunners in the 7th but couldn't bring them home.

  • The leadoff man for the Colonels walked on four pitches. He then stole second, and a wild pitch helped him get to third. A fielder's choice scored another run, 6-5 Lynx.

  • Lesley stretched their lead with a home run from Shott.

  • Once again, the leadoff man got on for Curry, this time with a single. Once again, he stole second. A single gave him third, and a sacrifice grounder scored another run.

  • Going into the 9th, the Lynx were only up one. Finnegan reached second on an error, and a single from Nyhuis scored him

  • In the bottom of the ninth, two men got on from singles. And a two-out double down the line scored them both, tying the game.

  • Shudy singled to start the 10th, then Bazinet got plunked. Martinez doubled to score Shudy. Finnegan singled to center to score Bazinet. Then Nyhuis hit a sac fly to bring Martinez home and make the score 11-8.

  • Lesley was able to shut down Curry in the bottom of the 10th and get another win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Shott impressed today. He went 2 for 5 with a double and a home run and was hit by a pitch. He recorded two RBI's and accounted for two runs himself. On the field, he was responsible for two double plays.

  • Roy Lenhard pitched 6.0 innings, no decision. He gave up four runs on seven hits. He only walked two, one of which was unintentional, and struck out seven.

  • Ethan Frost-Stokhaug got his second win of the season (2-0) after pitching 3.2. He gave up three runs on five hits with one walk.

  • For the Colonels, Blake Fuller did as much as he could. He went 3 for 5 with a double. He scored two runs and hit two in, accounting for half the runs Curry scored all game. He also stole three bases and was responsible for a double play.
