THE LEAD — Following a 13-2 blowout, the Lynx and Owls faced off for their fourth and final game in the past 48 hours. The Lynx weren't satisfied with last game's offense and doubled down. A four-run 1st set the scene for the entire game. Lesley won 23-1 and set a new NAC season high for most runs in a game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Logan Shuny started the game off with a walk and stole second, then Caden Shott struck out, but a dropped ball allowed him to make it to first. He then told the second one, too. A single from Gerlys Martinez drove both men in.

  • Anthony Nyhuis then singled. An Owen Finnegan double down the line drove in another run. Christopher Wallace grounded out, and Nyhuis scored. Before UMaine even had a chance to bat, they were down 4-0.

  • The Owls started with a lead-off single. He then stole second, and a passed ball gave him third. A wild pitch allowed him to score, and it would be UMaine's only run of the game.

  • The Lynx went 1-2-3 in the 2nd, and it looked like the same would happen in the 3rd until Nyhuis hit a two-out single. Finnegan then smacked his first triple of the season to add to the Lynx's lead.

  • Once again, with two outs in the 4th, Shudy singled to left. Then Shott singled and made an error, but the Owls allowed Shudy to score.

  • Grant Bazinet walked, then Martinez singled, and another error allowed both Shott and Bazinet to score. 8-1 Lynx.

  • In the 5th, Wallace reached on yet another error, Andres Moreno then walked, and so did Shudy to load the bases. Shott got up to bat, doubled, and two more scored.

  • Martinez started the 6th with a walk, then Nyhuis singled, and a Finnegan single drove in a run. Wallace then walked too. Noah Roman singled to right and drove in another two. A passed ball let Roman get into scoring position. A Moreno single allowed him and Wallace to do just that.

  • Shudy then walked on four pitches, and the Owls changed pitchers. However, the bleeding did not stop. Shott doubled to add to the lead. At this point, the Lynx had rounded the order.

  • Nyhuis's second single of the inning drove in another run. Finnegan then hit a sac fly to put the Lynx up 18-1.

  • In the 7th, Lesley started to sub out their starters. Gabriel Gill got his first college hit with a single to center. In his first college at-bat, Payne Johnson drew a four-pitch walk. Alexander Juhasz, also making his first college appearance, walked to load the bases.

  • In his college debut, Adiel Azuara was hit by a pitch for an RBI. Martinez then got up and smacked a double to drive in two more. Jayson Collado grounded into short during his first collegiate at bat, but scored a run.

  • Wallace then reached on an error and drove in the Lynx's 23rd and final run of the game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Finnegan went 3 for 4; he was a home run away from hitting for the cycle. He recorded four RBI's and accounted for a run himself.

  • Martinez also recorded four RBI's. He went 2 for 5 with a walk. He scored three of the Lynx runs.

  • Dean Vance recorded his first win of the season. He went 5 innings with four strikeouts. He let up a single unearned run on five hits and two walks.

  • The Lynx 8 run 6th is a season high, and their 23 total runs are a NAC season high, seven more than 2nd place.

  • Their 19 RBI's and 15 walks are also NAC season records

  • For the Owls, Ronnie Goldman went 2 for 2 with a walk. He was the team's sole run and stole their only base.
