THE LEAD — After splitting yesterday's doubleheader, the Lynx and Owls faced off in yet another doubleheader in Florida. The Lynx offense could not be stopped; they put up at least a run in every inning but the 7th. Along with a great pitching performance, they walked away with a 13-1 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Logan Shudy got the Lynx off on the right foot with a single. Caden Shott then walked. A passed ball advanced both men, and a Gerlys Martinez sac fly gave the Lynx an early lead.
-
In the second, Owen Finnegan walked to start the inning. Jacob Brown followed with one of his own. A Nathan Young single loaded them up, and a wild pitch allowed Finnegan to score.
-
Another inning, another leadoff runner. Grant Bazinet singled, and Martinez reached on an error. Anthony Nyhuis got out at first but advanced the other men on base, and a Finnegan sac fly drove Bazinet home. 3-0 Lynx.
-
The Owls finally got their offense going when a batter reached on an error. The next man up singled, and another single to left scored their first run of the game.
-
They responded with a rally. First, Andres Moreno got plunked, then Shundy was hit, and Bazinet also took one to load up the bases. A passed ball allowed all the bruised Lynx to advance, and Moreno scored.
-
After that, Martinez walked, and the Owls changed pitchers. Nyhuis walked on four pitches. Then so did Finnegan. Brown walked on a full count, and the Owls changed pitchers again. At the end of the 4th, the Lynx were up 7-1.
-
Moreno started the 5th with a single and stole second. Shott grounded out, and Moreno made it to third. On a passed ball, he came home and added to the Lynx's lead.
-
In the 6th, Nyhuis singled to lead off. Finnegan doubled next. Then Brown grounded out, and Nyhuis made it home.
-
Next, Young walked, and Shundy did too, to load up the bases. Shott walked in a run. Then Bazinet singled to drive in two. A Martinez double down the line scored Shott, and the Lynx were up 13-1.
-
In the bottom of the inning, an Owl was hit by a pitch, and a couple of groundouts brought him home.
-
The Lynx loaded up the bases in the 7th, but for the first time in the game, they weren't able to score in an inning.
-
The game was called in the 7th, and the Lynx won handily, 13-2.
