THE LEAD – Lesley junior Marc Bota Carbonell (Mallorca, Spain) earned medalist honors for the second straight tournament carding a 74 (+2) at the Lou Jarvis Invitational hosted by VTSU Johnson at Jay Peak Resort Golf Course.
LESLEY HIGHLIGHTS
- After a bogey on the first hole, Bota Carbonell reset to register three birdies over his next six holes to make the turn with a 35 (-1). Besides a few hiccups on the 10th and 14th holes, the junior was solid the rest of the way including two more birdies on holes 13 and 15 to card a 39 (+3) on the back for the 74 finish, one strong in front of Raine Rumble from SUNY Canton to earn the medalist accolades.
- First year Vincent Spirito (Lynn, Mass.) was next on the card for Lesley with an 88, picking up five pars and a birdie on the afternoon for an 11th place finish.
- Reuben Wasserman (Toronto, Ontario) and Hunter Treanor (Bulverde, Tex.) both posted rounds of 91. Wasserman picked up four pars and a birdie while Treanor registered five pars on the round including three consecutive on holes 14, 15 and 16.
- The team finished at +56 overall for a 344 to finish third in the team field.
WINNING PERFORMANCE
- New England College took home the team win posting a 325 (+37), three strokes better than SUNY Canton who took second at 328 (+40).
UP NEXT
- The Lynx are back on Wednesday, September 10 when they head to South Shore Country Club for Saints Invitational hosted by Emmanuel College with tee times beginning at 12:00 PM.
